University Studies for TVET Professionals
What is it?
The priority of TVET is to serve the labour market; nevertheless the system should not represent an impasse for a further career. Therefore, ‘Pathways to Higher Education’ give experienced TVET graduates the chance to proceed their career in an academic environment.
Who can join?
The following admission criteria must be fulfilled:
- Certificate which proves the passing of the National Exam of Grade 10
- Completion certificate of a TVET College 10+3 training program in the following trades:
- Building Construction
- Electricity
- Electronics
- General Mechanics
- Machine Technology
- Auto Mechanics
- Certificate which proves a successful Occupational Assessment (according to the new TVET System) in the trained occupation. (During the pilot project the assessment takes place after the Bridging Course, approx. September 2008)
- Legal proof of two years practical work experience in the trained occupation
- Passing of the ‘Higher Education Entrance Exam’, which is a newly introduced National Exam
What are Bridging Courses and why to go for it?
They are provided by the mentioned schools to prepare the students for the ‘Higher Education Entrance Exam’. In the pilot project the Bridging Courses cover Mathematics, Physics, English and Technical Drawing.
The ‘Higher Education Entrance Exam’ will be based on the Bridging Courses. The courses will start mid February and last for 7 months. The fees of the Bridging Courses must be covered by the students.
Where can you register?
Registration will take place in both schools
from January 28th to February 5th, 2008
(8:30 in the morning to 6:30 in the afternoon).
