Mobile Calibration Service

Improving Measurement Standards for Better Quality

In its constant effort to improve the Ethiopian market, implementing the quality of its products, the Engineering Capacity Building Program (ecbp), together with the Quality Standards Authority of Ethiopia (QSAE) will introduce the Mobile Calibration Service. On the 14th of October, 2007 at 9.30 am in the QSAE Headquarters and in a event presided by His Excellency Dr Claas Knoop, Ambassador of Germany in Ethiopia, it will be inaugurated the first vehicle in Africa, part of the strategy to improve the quality of measurement standards - known as Metrology - in various industries, laboratories and market places all over the country. Press conference and tour of this unique vehicle will be held at the end of the event (schedule included).

For an effective implementation of metrology in Ethiopia, are required metrological facilities such as calibration and verification services. Calibration service is needed to maintain the accuracy of various measuring and testing equipment as their performance can be changed with time, under the influence of the environment to which it is exposed, wear and tear, overload or because of improper use.

To this end, ecbp, in cooperation with QSAE, has inaugurated two calibration vehicles.

These contain state-of-the-art mobile calibration laboratories, fully air conditioned, equipped with a metrology data logger, autonomous power supply unit and many other special devices.
