New Minister of Science and Technology Visits Germany
The newly appointed Minister of Science and Technology, His Excellency, Juneydi Sado completed a study tour to Germany in January with the support and participation of ecbp. Verick Schick and Alexander Speed, from the University Reform and Quality Infrastructure Components respectively, accompanied the Minister on his two week tour of Germany which involved a GTZ seminar on science, technology and innovation and meetings with a variety of ministries and organizations, including discussions with the Minister of Economy and Technology, Minister Michael Glos and the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Prof. Dr. Meyer-Krahmer.
According to both Mr. Schick and Mr. Speed, the trip, which was intended to facilitate and support the development of the new Ministry of Science and Technology and provide opportunities for future collaboration with Germany, was a success. H.E. Minister Juneydi was given the opportunity to see the important institutions in the German technology and innovation landscape which has given him a strong insight into how to develop the future of Ethiopia’s science, technology and innovation systems and the related policies.
